The Tide is Turning

Glitz Lounge challenge – The Elements – earth, wind, water and fire!

I was certain I would go for wind or possibly fire when started to think about this challenge in December and I wrecked my brain trying to find something that would fit the theme and all the time failing abysmally. After – and I am ashamed to say it…. many weeks (hangs head) I finally decided to look at the other two elements and started to think about water.

Ten minutes later I had sketched out The Tide. *sigh*

A gently curved swirl – it can be a sea shell or maybe swirl in a little pool of water – was wrapped with hair thin sterling silver wire and given a little rim of faceted rondelles of gorgeous royal blue, sparkly Sapphires.

Below the swirl a cascade of polished pebbles of lovely baby blue Lace Agate falls, riveting and splashing with more of the Sapphire rondelles to give depth and sparkle. The pebbles even make a little tinkling noise that resembles the drip-drip-drip of water.

A simple chain leads up from the swirl and ends in my handmade hook style clasp.

It drops about 14cm (5.5in.) from the top of the swirl to the bottom pebble. And with the 49cm (19in.) long chain this necklace will drop quite low on your chest and the pebbles will place themselves delicately in your cleavage.

A wonderful necklace – if I may say so myself – with tonnes of movement that looks amazing when worn.
